La Finca in Hicksville: What a delightful little eatery! I was treated to lunch there by a friend who's a big fan -- and I can see why! It's a cozy place with a Latin ambiance, friendly staff, and quick service. The food is tasty, nicely presented and the prices a bargain. 

Bogota Latin Bistro

Bogota Bistro features live music on the first 3 Wednesdays of each month and offers a great happy hour All Night Long on Monday, Wednesday & Thursday with reduced prices on the most popular drinks.

'Green Plantains' of Jackson Heights

Joe DiStefano of The Gothamist checked out Jackson Heights' newest Chino Latino restaurant: Green Plantains.

Green Plantains bills itself as a “Nuevo Chino Latino Dining Experience.” Edward Ng, who helped craft the menu for acclaimed Bronx Chino-Latino eatery Sabrosura, also had a hand in the menu of this two-week old Roosevelt Avenue eatery. Ng grew up in the Dominican Republic and the food at Green Plantains reflects his heritage, with such dishes as ropa vieja and chicharron de pollo.

Nuevo Chino Latino is perfect food for today's Queens, no?

Imagine that!

The most stand out thing to me from the get go and throughout the evening was the people. Everyone was so sweet and welcoming, the service was impeccable. I felt like royalty!

And the food? The modestly priced fare was "a delicious smorgasbord of flavors!"

Joey's conclusion?

"Go eat! This place has to iron out a few "taste" kinks but I have high hopes for these guys."
